I was, for many years, a professional civil engineering technologist and the owner of three successful civil engineering close corporations. In 2014, I was involved in a serious motorcycle accident and spent an extended period in hospital recovering from my injuries. As I was not in a position to manage my own affairs at the time, I was placed under curatorship. After years of rehabilitation, I recovered to the point where I felt able to resume control of my finances and assets. With the guidance and support of Gerard Stoop, the necessary reports were obtained from a clinical psychologist and a psychiatrist. On 27 February 2025, a successful application was brought on my behalf in the High Court to have the curatorship set aside. I am deeply grateful for the excellent support, assistance, and guidance provided by Gerard Stoop, and for securing my release from curatorship after a lengthy period of 11 years
